Marvin F. “Woody” Wodzinski, age 77, of Iron River, MI, passed away Wednesday, November 01, 2017 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, Michigan. He was born May 15, 1940 in Iron River, MI, the son of the late Zigmund and Surrella (Carlson) Wodzinski. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1958. Marvin was a United States Navy Veteran, having served his country from 1959 to 1963, receiving the Good Conduct Medal. After earning his teaching degree, he was a teacher in California, educating students on health, science and woodshop. He was employed for many years as a Corrections Officer for the State of Michigan. He was also a substitute teacher in the local school system. Marvin married Barbara Keeney on July 30, 1965 in Los Angeles, California. The couple celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary, before Barbara preceded him in death in October of 2001. He was a member of Grace Covenant Church. Marvin enjoyed hunting, gardening, woodworking and spending time at his cabin on Norwood Lake. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Marvin is survived by his sons, Robbie Wodzinski of Iron River and Norman Wodzinski of Houston, TX; daughter, Cindy (David) Landmasser of Port Huron, MI; sister, Darlene (Richard) Seagley of Fort Wayne, IN; four grandchildren, Lacey and Skye Wodzinski and Marcus and Samantha Landmasser; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Wodzinski. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor James Swanson II to officiate. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites during the visitation.
