Mary Ann Artwich

Mary Ann Artwich, age 92, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, MI. She was born on December 13, 1929, in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Frank and Eleanor (Tomaszewski) Buczek. She attended the Palatka and Caspian Schools, graduating from Stambaugh High School. Mary Ann married Benjamin Artwich Sr. in 1948 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gaastra, MI. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in 2002. Benjamin preceded her in death on September 5, 2002. Mary Ann had many jobs in her life, the last being a cook for several area restaurants. Mary Ann was a member St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. She was always everyone’s caretaker and enjoyed spending time with family and her Sunday meals. She was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching hockey, especially when her husband Benjamin played. Mary Ann is survived by her sons, Bill (Yvonne) Artwich and Ben Artwich Jr., both of Iron River, MI; grandchildren, Bill (Barb Gajewski) Artwich, Jr. and Kristie (Cory) Shovald; step grandchildren, Michael (Carrie) Anderson and Tammy (Rich) Kerttu; two great grandchildren, Jamison and Londyn Shovald; step great grandchildren, Megan and Tyler Anderson and Sarah and Olivia Kerttu; extended family, and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dr. Robert Artwich and daughter-in-law, Kristine Artwich. Private family services will be held. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
