Mary Ann Vanwagner

Mary Ann VanWagner, age 92, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Iron River Care Center. She was born on July 17, 1931, in Watersmeet, MI, the daughter of the late Samuel and Clara (Halverson) Knapp. She attended and graduated from the Watersmeet schools. Mary Ann married Floyd VanWagner on August 19, 1950, in Watersmeet, MI and the couple made their home in Iron River. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2012. Floyd preceded her in death on September 30, 2012. After high school Mary Ann was a telephone operator in Iron River for a short time. She and Floyd owned and operated the Violet Ray Laundromat. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River and the Rosary Sodality. Mary Ann is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Keith) Brey; sons, Tom (Janet) VanWagner, Brian VanWagner, and Kevin VanWagner; sisters, Patricia Urbis and Carol (Will) Burdick; sister-in-law, Rose VanWagner; grandchildren, Scott VanWagner, Marybeth Brey, Melissa (Gregg) Collard, Joe (Lisa) VanWagner, Karla (Nick) Sprosty, Andrew VanWagner, and Nicholas VanWagner; great grandchildren, Madison VanWagner, Mackenzie and Anders Collard, Sophie and Grace Sprosty, Gabriel and Tucker VanWagner, and Easton and Emmett VanWagner, and Delilah and Grayson VanWagner; extended family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Gary VanWagner. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Fr.
