Mrs. Mary Lou Dennis age 80 of Iron River, MI, died Monday, February 9, 2009 at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River. Born: March 15, 1928 in Alpha, MI The daughter of the late Jacob and Louise (Gollakner) Schaal was a lifelong resident of the area. She attended the Alpha, Caspian and Stambaugh Schools, graduating from the Stambaugh High School in 1946. She married Charles ""Smokey"" Dennis on November 22, 1947 in Stambaugh; he preceded her in death on February 12, 1995. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Priscilla Circle, Altar Guild and Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Denise; grandson, Steven; nephews Dane, Jacob, and Rusell ""Rusty"" Spencer; brothers-in-law Floyd Dennis, Orville Dennis, Leo Dennis; sisters-in-law Gladys Kinney and Cleo Richard; and nephews Robert Brunell, Ray Riverside, and Daniel Jean. She is survived by three sons; Charles ""Butch"" (Reinelle) Dennis of Iron River James (Sandy) Dennis of Iron River Duane (Gretchen) Dennis of Ishpeming, MI One sister, Donna (Russell ""Pug"") Spencer of Iron River Special niece, DonnaLee (David) Carlson of Caspian Four grandchildren; Renee Studebaker, Angie Kopischke, Ryan Dennis, and Cory Dennis Two great grandchildren Two step grandchildren Two step great grandchildren Brother-in-law, Clifford (Carol) Gendron Sisters-in-law; Adeline Brunell Elaine (Pete) Hooser Muriel Jean Rachel (Walter) Riverside Rosalind (Anton) Demboski Yvonne (Robert) Ketchum Kate Dennis Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends Visitation: Friday February 13, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, Iron River.
