Mary Guzowski

Mary Guzowski, 99, of Iron River, MI passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Wells Nature View Assisted Living in Marshfield, WI.

She was born on May 8, 1926, in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Alexandra (Popko) Cindrich. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the class of 1944.

Mary married Frank E. Guzowski on June 19, 1950, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Iron River. The couple made their home in Iron River and celebrated 70 years together. They were constant companions and on the streets of Iron River, where you saw Mary, you saw Frank close at her side. Frank preceded her in death on May 20, 2020.

In her earlier years, Mary was employed as a dental assistant to the late Dr. E. Oberdorfer. After her children were raised and, in the Spring of 1968, she became the West Iron District Librarian. Mary enjoyed her many young patrons coming into the library with their parents from early childhood to college graduates. She enjoyed 20 years being librarian and retired on May 27, 1988.

Mary was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Agnes Altar Society, the Rosary Sodality, and a former member the Assumption Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and gardening and loved being with her children and grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her sons, John (Jean) Guzowski of Menasha, WI and Frank (Kathryn) Guzowski, MD of Marshfield, WI; grandson, Nicholas; granddaughter, Walker; sister, Delores Kempa of Kingsford, MI; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ernest Bigari; brother-in-law, Joe Kempa; and dear lifetime friend, Violet Charron.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Fosu to officiate.

Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
