Mrs. Mary LaBelle Kopenski, age 94, Stambaugh, MI died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at Lenawee Medical Care Facility, Adrian, MI. Mary was born June 2, 1913 in Caspian, MI, the daughter of the late Joseph and Angela Vaccari. In 1933, she married Verne William LaBelle and the couple owned and operated Pike's Bar in Stambaugh. Verne passed away in 1969. In 1972 she married Walter Kopenski and the couple made their home in Stambaugh, until he passed away in 1997. Mary then moved to Homewood, IL and later moved to Adrian. Mary was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She loved music, singing and dancing. She also enjoyed fishing and cooking. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Angelo Vaccari and a grandson, Steven Shewchuk. She is survived by one son, Verne (Ann) LaBelle of Fort Worth, TX Three daughters; Joyce Carmine of Homewood, IL Arlene Todd of Beverly Hills, CA Jeanne (Bob) Shewchuk of Adrian A step-son, Keith (Sharon) Kopenski of Iron River, MI A brother, Joe Vaccari of Plainfield, IN Three sisters; Josephine Singler of Iron River Jean Ross of Iron Mountain Rita Donelson of San Antonio, TX 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren Several nieces and nephews The Mass of Christian Burial was held December 21, 2007 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Adrian. Graveside Services and interment will be held in the Spring at Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
