Mary R. Roberts, age 99, of Long Lake, WI, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Iron River Care Center. She was on born August 28, 1920 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late John and Lena (Belisle) Sensiba. She attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1938. Mary married George Roberts on January 19, 1939 in Crystal Falls, MI and the couple made their home in Long Lake, WI. They celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary in 1985, before George preceded her in death on July 18th. Mary was a member of St. Norbert’s Catholic Church of Long Lake. She worked at the Long Lake School for over 14 years; her joy was working with children. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was always there when her family needed her. She is survived by her daughters, Judy (Tom) Huffman of Florence, WI, Kathy Barber of Long Lake, WI, Susan (Neil) Benchoff of Gaastra, MI; daughter-in-law, Edythe “Cookie” Roberts of Iron River, MI; 11 grandchildren, Lisa Nichols, Neil Roberts, Travis Benchoff, Sarah Stewart, Desirae Benchoff, Sandy Weier, Jake Barber, Ginny Haebig, Melissa Cherry, Shevonne Andersen, and Michelle Dorn; 14 great grandchildren; six and a half great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mary was also preceded in death by her son, John “Jack” Roberts; daughter, Barbara Cole; grandson, William “Buddy” Weier; brother, Robert Sensiba; sister, Virginia Gayhart; and sons-in-law, Norm Barber, Bill Weier, and Doug Cole. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Long Lake, WI.  Funeral service will follow at 11am with Fr. John Cerkas to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.  Interment will be in Long Lake Cemetery, Long Lake. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Mary R.
