Mary Catherine Walsh

Mary Catherine Walsh, age 92, Iron River, MI died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River. Born: December 7, 1915 in Buffalo, NY The daughter of Florian and Elizabeth (Heilmann) Horvath attended the Buffalo schools, graduating from Riverside High School. She married Allan Walsh on April 22, 1933 in Buffalo and the couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2003. Mary worked in a war plant while her husband was on active duty during WWII. Allan preceded her in death on December 5, 2003. Mary had a zest for living and loved basketball (she was on a championship team at one time). She also enjoyed art and painting. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Shearer and husband Michael, who were victims of the September 11, 2001 Twin Tower incident in New York; brothers, Edward, Steve, Andrew, John, and George; and sisters, Helen and Elizabeth. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne (Harry) Peterson of Stambaugh, MI Barbara (Bill) Brower of Sun City West, AZ Brothers; Joseph and Florian ""Pete"" Sister, Margaret Bubb Sister-in-law, Mary Horvath Seven grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren Memorial Service: Monday, April 14, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, with Rev Norman Clisch, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
