Maurice Lee Beauchamp, 79, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Monday June 11, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family. Maurice was born on October 18, 1938 in Stambaugh, MI; the son of the late Edward and Dorothy (Sabotta) Beauchamp. He attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating in 1957. Maurice married Diane Mary Rivard on March 15, 1958 at the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River and they were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 2008. He worked for the M.A. Hanna Mining Company for 23 years. After retiring from the mine, he continued working many jobs, including locally at Lakeshore (Oldenburg Group) and co-owned with his wife Diane, Taxes Plus of Iron County, for 25 years. Maurice was a member of the former Elks Lodge of Iron River. He is known for his love of the outdoors and spent a lifetime hunting, fishing and trapping. Although he made many fall trips to the mountains of Montana, his favorite place to spend time was at the Tamarack Lake Lodge with his closest friends. He volunteered at the Iron Amateur Hockey Association where he became affectionately known as “Grandpa Hockey.” His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his son, Kevin (Jenny) Beauchamp of Holt, MI; daughters, Kim (John) Morgan of Pittsboro, NC, Kelly (Doug) Tomasoski of Gaastra, MI; eight grandchildren, Virginia, Melissa, Ryan, Alex, Travis, Mallory, Natalie, and Neil; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was greeted at the gates by his wife and soulmate Diane, his brother Buck, special friend, Rosalie and other loving family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dawn Robbins to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
