Michael L Andersen

Michael L. Andersen, age 65, of Long Lake, WI, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 at his home. He was born October 25, 1948 in Racine, WI, the son of the late Clifford and Ida (Swaninapole) Andersen. He attended the Racine Schools, graduating from William Horlick High School in 1967. He served his apprenticeship as a machinist at Gorton Machine Company and became a Journeyman Machinist. He moved to Long Lake in 1976 and worked for the Florence County Sheriff Department for two years. He was employed as a Management Assistant for the U.S. Forest Service from 1978 to 2010. Michael married the former Renee Townsend on October 13, 1998 in Virginia City, NV, and the couple celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in 2013. He served on the Town Board of Long Lake for many years as Supervisor, Town Clerk and Chairman, President of the Long Lake Rescue Squad, member of the Long Lake Fire Department, served 20 years as a Hunter Safety instructor, and 25 years as an AHA CPR instructor. Michael is survived by his wife, Renee; brother, Jack Andersen; grandmother, Ella White; mother-in-law, Betty Townsend; father-in-law, Greg (Jane) Townsend; brothers-in-law, Cole Townsend and Jason (Jessica) Townsend; sisters-in-law, Sarah Townsend and Rebecca (Cory) Coogan; nephews, Chris (Mary) Andersen, Mark (Carrie) Flanery, Jeff (Stephany) Andersen, Chris Andersen, Austin, Cody, Evan, and Matthew; nieces, Michelle Andersen, Michelle (Adam) Bonlander, Emmalie, and Skyla; great nephews and nieces, Jacob, Zoey, Samantha, and Hope Andersen and Syndny Bonlander; “puppy kids”, Scout, Sar Bear, Scooby, Stars, Smokey, Lucy, and T-Lee; many aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Andersen; sisters-in-law, Elaine Andersen and Mary Ellen Andersen, grandfather, Walter White; Uncle Pat Rae; and aunt, Linda Schmidt. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 12:00 to 1:45 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River, MI. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, with Uncle Gary White to officiate. Interment will be in Martin Cemetery, Tipler, WI.
