Michael S. Dacheff, Jr., age 93, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born on August 28, 1926 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Michael and Agnes (Stuk) Dacheff, Sr.  Michael attended the Stambaugh Schools and graduated and then attended Wayne State and Northern Michigan University.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy from January 1945 until his honorable discharge in July 1946, earning the World War II Victory Ribbon and the American Area Ribbon.  Michael married Marilyn Saukko on August 28, 1951 in Detroit, MI.  The couple made their home in Iron River and celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in 2005.  Marilyn preceded him in death on October 9, 2005.   He was employed as miner with M.A. Hanna for 16 years.  He was a member of the American Legion Reino Post 21 and a lifelong member of the Iron River Country Club, where he was the Greens Superintendent for many years.  He enjoyed watching and playing golf, socializing at the Legion, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Michael is survived by his son, Michael (Laura) Dacheff of Iron River, MI; daughters, Kay Ann (Robert) Gendzwill of Iron River, MI, Deborah Bender of Mims, FL, Neysa (Mike) Ziebell of Iron River, and Wendy (Brian) Benda of Iron River, MI; grandchildren, Jason and Justin Lopez, Melissa Menapace, Nikki (Tom) Mantsch, Cory and Craig (Stephanie) Dacheff, Marilyn (Michael) Manfrom, and Casey Benda; great grandchildren, Trey and Tori Bociek, Harlie and Gracyn Melstrom, Preslie Mantsch, Sophie and Calan Dacheff, and Aaron Benda; extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Bender, brothers, Richard and Edward; and sister, Dorothy. A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:00am at the First Baptist Church in Iron River.  A memorial service will follow at 11am with Pastor John Fish.  The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the church.
