Michael A. Martinson

Michael A. Martinson, age 75, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2022, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, MI. He was born on July 25, 1947, in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Alfred and Geraldine (Bedard) Martinson. He attended the Iron River Schools and graduated. He later attended Northern Michigan University and earned a bachelor’s degree. Michael was a veteran of the US Army. Michael married Christine Condon on June 10, 1989, in Bates Township, MI. They celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary in this year. He was employed in maintenance for many places. Michael was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Iron River. He was an avid trout fisherman and a Green Bay Packers fan. Michael loved talking to people and telling stories and going to camp. He also loved spending time with his family, especially guiding his grandchildren. Michael is survived by his wife, Christine; sons, Kelly (Jamie) Martinson of Baraboo, WI, Heath (Robyn) Condon of Iron River, MI, and Nathan (Heather) Paffrath of Weston, WI; brother, Dennis (Christina) Martinson of Kingsford, MI; sisters, Kathie (Mark) DeClark of Niagara, WI, Patti (Greg) Mindock of Richland, MI, and Kristine Martinson of Iron Mountain, MI; special granddaughter, Alexis; grandchildren, Daemon, Anastasia, Max, Chloe, Dylan, Seth, Dexter, Katylynn, Gaiter, and Prudence; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Iron River. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with David Carlisle to officiate. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at 11 a.m. at the church.
