Minnie E. Olson

Minnie E. Olson, age 98, of Iron River, MI, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Iron River Care Center. Minnie was born on May 4, 1916 in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Richard and Doris (Bastin) Orchard. She attended the Iron River schools. Minnie was employed as a cook for the Iron River Schools. She married Lewis Olson on Feb 1, 1936 in Iron River, where the couple made their home. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 1999. Lewis preceded her in death on July 31, 1999. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Iron River. Minnie liked to sew. She was a wonderful cook and baker and she loved spending time with her family. She was also preceded in death by her son, James Olson, brother, Albert Orchard and an infant sister, Audrey Mae. She is survived by son, Ronald (Mildred) Olson of New Berlin, WI; two daughters, Ruth (James) Pellizzer of Iron River and Doris (Knox) Salonen of Lake Gogebic, MI; two brothers, Richard Orchard and George (Sylvia) Orchard, both of Iron River; two sisters, Doreen Lehr of Marine City, MI and Greta (James) Marcell of Iron River; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the River Church of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at the River Church with Rev.
