Myrtle A. Erickson November 7, 1921 - March 18, 2008 Myrtle Anne Erickson, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother died peacefully from natural causes on March 18, 2008. Myrtle was born in Oak Park, IL to Anna and John O. Hulting. She attended North Park Academy and University in Chicago, graduating in 1937. She continued her education graduating from Loyola University in 1965 with a degree in Psychiatric Social Work. Myrtle had a distinguished and enjoyable career at the Princeton Children's Home (Princeton, Il), North Park University and the Swedish Covenant Hospital (Chicago, Il.) where she worked as a psychiatric therapist. She also owned and managed the Sweden Shop Import store and the Beehive, a needlework and gift shop (Chicago, Il.) Myrtle was a driving force in the establishment of the Bjorklund House, the first Covenant Enabling Residence. Myrtle was a faithful and devoted member of North Park Covenant Church where she served on various boards over the years and was one of the first women to serve as a Trustee. Myrtle cherished many long lasting friendships throughout her life and career. She especially enjoyed the family summers in Iron County, Michigan. Myrtle is survived by her daughter Karin Deitrick, daughter Jenanne Anderson (Dennis), five grandchildren, Kristina Sterling(Geoff), Daniel Deitrick(Jill), Karin Johnson(Brandon), Jessica Rodin(Dave) and Joseph Anderson; six great grandchildren and many other dear friends and extended family members. Myrtle was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years, the Rev. John Irving Erickson, her parents, John and Anna Hulting, and sister Inez Petersen (Don). The family would like to give special tribute to Barb and Tom Reif for the extraordinary care given to Myrtle during her stay at Barrett House in Markesan, Wisconsin. Memorial services will be held at North Park Covenant Church at a later date. Interment will take place privately in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
