Myrtle J. Vassar, age 91 of Iron River, MI died Thursday, April 23, 2009 at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River. Born: November 29, 1917 in Alvin, WI The daughter of the late Henry and Callie (Puckett) Hall attended the Elvoy school and graduated. She later took Nurse's aide training and was employed as a Nurse's Aide at the Iron County Community Hospital, Iron River for many years. Myrtle was a member of the Corner Stone Bible Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing dice, walking, and picking berries. She was also preceded in death by her son Rodney Vassar; brothers James, Clifford, and Linsey Hall; and sister Inez Culver. She is survived by two sons; Steve Vassar of Iron River Ward Vassar of Iron River Two daughters; Winnie Vassar of Iron River Penny (Dale) Petts of Alamogordo, NM One brother, Ralph (Bertie) Hall of Indiana One sister, Lillian Schmidt of Wisconsin Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren Numerous nieces and nephews Visitation: Tuesday, April 28, 2009 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River with Pastor Dale Petts to officiate.
