Nancy G. Nasser, age 94, a lifelong resident of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, Mar. 18, 2018 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility. Nancy was born Oct. 11, 1923 in Caspian, MI, the daughter of the late Herman and Hulda (Hanson) Swanson. She attended the Iron River Schools, and graduated with the Class of 1941. After high school, she attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. On Jan. 24, 1942 she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas “Tom” Nasser in Ann Arbor, MI and later the couple moved back to Iron River to make their home and raise their family. Nancy and Tom celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in 2015. Tom preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2015. Nancy devoted her life to her family and community. She worked as a secretary for her husband’s business, Nasser Insurance Inc. for 25 years. She was the quintessential homemaker and hostess. Nancy was at her finest when making meals for family and friends. She was an avid reader and a bridge player, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Nancy also was a woman of strong faith. She was a member of the St. Agnes Catholic Church, the St. Agnes Altar Society and a former member of the Rosary Sodality. Nancy is survived by her sons, Thomas (Joelynn) Nasser of Huntington Beach, CA, Dr. Jeffrey (Nancy) Nasser of Centreville, MI, Damon (Linda) Nasser of Iron River, and her daughter Nicole Nasser of Byron, MN; 11 granddaughters, Carissa Hillman, Barbara Nasser, Pamela (Jeff) Rodgers, Linda (Ben) Floor, Amy (Paul) Chrisco, Rebecca (Mark) Cussans, Chrissy Haker, Tristin Nasser, and Carling, Kendall and Alexandra Spelhaug; five step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.  The family suggests memorial donations to St. Agnes Catholic Church or the Iron County Cancer Unit.
