Norma K. Brunswick, 87, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2017 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, where she resided this past year. She was born September 24, 1929 of the late Vincenzo and Serafina (Vito) Bellantonio. Norma was married to Bernard Tarnowski in 1949, until his death in 1985. She married Frank Brunswick in 1989 and they lived 28 happy years together. He preceded her in death on March 26 of this year. Norma was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River, where she was the past Treasurer of the Rosary Sodality and Daughters of Isabella, past Treasurer of the Italian Ladies Society, of which her mother was a founding member. She was also past Treasurer of the Senior Citizens Site Council and past President of the Ladies of Mary, at the former Assumption Catholic Church of Iron River. She spent twenty years at Aratex Services in Caspian, before her retirement in 1989. Norma was the only sister in a family of eight children and the only surviving sibling. Anton, Rocco, Roy, Bruce, Pasqualino, Geno and Santino Bellantonio all preceded her in death. She also lost three of her four children; Sharon (Tarnowski) Fredericks, August (Gus) and Bernard Tarnowski, plus a stepson, RalphTurcotte. She is survived by her son, Vincent Tarnowski of Iron River, MI, and stepson, Michael Brunswick of Shoreview, MN, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Norma’s kindness helped many people and she will be greatly missed. Her kindness was returned to her by the caring staff at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, who always kept her spirits high. Norma spent her last years on earth needing oxygen to help her breathe, and yearned for the day she could breathe easily again. That day has come. Visitation will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 from 9:00-10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to officiate. The Italian Ladies Society will form at Honor Guard at the service. Interment will be at the Iron River City Cemetery.
