Olympia ""Ollie"" M. Powers, age 92 of Gaastra, MI, died Thursday night, September 3, 2009 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. Born: July 29, 1917 in Crystal Falls, MI The daughter of the late John Frank and Olympia (Fiorani) Bruttemesso graduated from Stambaugh High School. She then moved to Chicago, IL where she met her husband James Powers. The couple married on May 27, 1939 in Chicago where they made their home. Olympia worked for over 40 years for F.W. Woolworth as the head cashier and bookkeeper, retiring in 1968. In 1973, the couple moved from Chicago to Gaastra to make their home. Olympia was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gaastra and later St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, and a member of St. Anne's Society. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James in 1993, grandson Craig DeHaan, brother Angelo and sister Tina Trybom. She is survived by her son, James (Carmen) Powers of Carol Stream, IL Daughter, Patricia (Kenneth) DeHaan of Bradenton, FL Five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren Nieces and nephews Visitation: Thursday, September 10, 2009 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Thursday, September 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian, with Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
