Oscar L. Svenson, 78, of Leesburg, Fla., died on September 3, 2011 after a short illness. Oscar graduated from Iron River High School in 1950. He served in the Marine Corp for five years and was a Korean War Veteran. Then he enlisted in the United States Army in 1955 where he served 19 years as 1st Sergeant, retiring in 1974 as a Vietnam Veteran. He then moved to Menominee, Mich, and retired from Lloyd Flanders in 1993. He enjoyed travel and the outdoors. Oscar is survived by his wife, Brigitta of 34 years; one son, Buddy Lee of Selma, Ala; three daughters, Kathy (Ed Hemeleski) Svenson of Marinette, Wanda (Allan) Rosner of Pound and Connie Jackimowicz of Marinette; two sisters, Wanda Jashinsky of Pound and Alberta Macki of Germantown; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Glynn; one grandson; one great granddaughter; and four sisters, Betty Millette, Paige Erickson, Jean Strom and Alice Jackson. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Services will be held at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River, Mich. at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 with Rev. Roberta Willson to officiate.
