Oswald P. Hill

Oswald “Ozzie” P. Hill, age 96, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Iron River Care Center.  He was born on August 5, 1923 in Stambaugh Township, MI, the son of the late Emil and Gertrude (Truel) Hill, Sr. He was employed as a truck driver for Hebert Construction Co. for 35 years. He also worked for Odgers Drilling Co. and on the Kaiser-Frazer Corp. automobile assembly line at Willow Run, MI. Ozzie married Kathleen Twardowski on August 24, 2000 in Crystal Falls, MI, and the couple made their home in Iron River Township. They celebrated their 18th anniversary in 2018.  Kathleen preceded him in death on January 22, 2019.  He was a member of the former Assumption Catholic Church in Iron River, Iron County Search and Rescue, the Teamsters Union, the Western Upper Peninsula Forest Improvement, and was a lifelong member of the NRA.  He enjoyed working in his yard and cutting wood.  Ozzie is survived by his son, Lawrence “Larry” (Brenda) Hill of Iron River; sister, Caroline Bohlen of Saukville, WI; brother-in-law, Donald Stout of Menomonee Falls, WI; granddaughters, Angela (Jason) Ghiotto and Rebecca (Lew) Lorenzoni; great grandchildren, Robert Lorenzoni and Madelina, Michael, and Gregory Ghiotto; nieces, nephews and extended family.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Emil “Sonny” Hill, Jr; sister, Mathilda Stout; brother-in-law, Joseph Bohlen; and mother of his son, Grace Gendzwill Hill. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 11:00am to 12:15pm at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.  Funeral services will follow at 12:30pm at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev.
