Patricia A. Gill

d. April 13, 2016

A beautiful soul, Patricia Ann Gill (Whitcomb) was embraced by our loving Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior recently. She passed away in the comfort of her home. She will be missed greatly by her sons who shared with her a special bond of friendship, by her grandsons, and her daughter in law who will miss her wise console. She was a single mother who raised two sons, juggled a full time career, and cared deeply for her community. Patti was born in Stambaugh in 1945 to Marvin and Jeanette (Stromberg) Whitcomb, who both preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her brother, Jack Whitcomb, and fiancé Edward Geiger. She attended St. Agnes Catholic School and was a graduate of the Iron River High School. Immediately after graduation, Patti relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where she gained employment as a book keeper at an automotive dealership. In 1970, Patti returned to Iron River and continued her career as a book keeper at automotive dealerships for the next twenty years. Patti was always independent and a very hard worker. After retiring from McKay’s automotive dealership, she continued working first at J.C. Penney’s, and then at Losey’s Landing. She was well known for her wit, humor, kindness, and was a very gentle person. She enjoyed taking care of her yard and home, traveling, the outdoors, berry picking, ceramics, and was a Green Bay Packer fan. She had a special interest in genealogy, and spent the past thirty years conducting research on her ancestors. She is survived by her immediate family, her two sons, Stephen A. Jones (Bonnie) of Marquette, and Scott F. Jones of Green Bay, and three grandsons, Richard Connor Jones, and Noah and Brady Jones. Patti had many friends and family members who will miss her unique sense of humor and kind heart. Her friend, Nora Norman, especially helped her during her lengthy illness. A private burial service will be held when Patti is laid to rest in Iron River with her family that preceded her in death, and a Celebration of Life will follow both at a later date. Expressions of condolences and sympathy can be sent to the Jones Family in care of the Jacobs Funeral home of Iron River, 405 West Cayuga Street, Iron River, MI 49935 To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Patricia A.
