Patricia J. Shafer

Patricia J. Shafer, age 85, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022. She was born on June 3, 1936, in Melstrand, MI, to the late Roy and Dorothy (LaHaie) Savoie. Pat attended Sacred Heart School. Pat married Ralph Shafer on June 7, 1957, in Angola, IN, and together they made their home in Grand Blanc, MI, where they raised their daughter. Pat was a homemaker and wonderful mother and best friend to her daughter, Suzie. The couple celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in 2008. Ralph preceded her in death on December 12, 2008. Pat and Ralph enjoyed boating on Lake Fenton and Lake Superior, wood crafting, going out to eat, and spending time with grandchildren. Pat loved crocheting, sewing, attending craft shows, shopping the “junk” shops, and making greeting cards……. all with her daughter. Pat was always ready for that phone call… “Do you wanna go…?” Patricia is survived by her daughter, Suzie (Leonard) Piwarski of Iron River, MI; grandchildren Patty (Donnie) Willson of Munising, MI; Ryan Piwarski; Stephanie; Brittany; and Jennifer of Iron River, MI; great grandchildren Erin, Symon, and Sophia Willson of Munising, MI; sister Gerry (Richard) Karr of Munising, MI; in-laws Bob Robinson and Mark Guest; and many nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Al (Sally) Savoie, and sisters, Irene (Bob) Coon, Phyllis (Don) Laundry, Joyce (Jack) McLeary, Mary (Frank) Hamlin, Janet (Dick) Murphey, Carol Robinson, Linda Guest, Vicki (Premo) Fredricks, and Jean (Harold) Brown.
