Paul E. Lekatz

Paul E. Lekatz, age 67, of Iron River, died unexpectedly February 17, 2016 at his home. He was born July 28, 1948 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of Joseph and Elaine (Kochinsky) Lekatz. He attended the Bates Township Public School, an graduated from Iron River High School in 1966. He was a member of the Army Reserve and then the Michigan National Guard for over 20 years. Paul married the former Judy Ann Pond on December 15, 1973 and the couple made their home in Iron River. He was employed as various places, White Pine Copper Mine, Groveland Mine, and Wenos Lumber Company. He recently retired from North Eastern Products. He was a member of St. Mary’s Assumption Church. Prior to ill health, he was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Paul is survived by his mother, Elaine Lekatz of Iron River; brother, Josef Lekatz of Iron River; sister, Aimee Jo Lekatz of Iron River; two nephews, Evan and Lucas; one niece, Autumn; extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy in 1983, and father Joseph Lekatz. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2016, at 11:00 am at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River with Deacon Robert Kostka to officiate, in conjunction with his brother Joseph L.
