Pearl Polich

Pearl W. (Carne) Polich, a lifelong resident of Iron County was born to eternal life on April 22, 2011 at the age of ninety-five. She was born October 19, 1915 to Mary (Woods) and Richard Carne Sr. in Iron River. Pearl graduated from Iron River High School, worked at the J.C. Penny store and taught a kindergarten class, one year, a year she truly enjoyed. Pearl married Silvio Polich August 17, 1940. They were married almost 69 years. Pearl was a stay-at-home Mom who loved providing for her family. A wonderful cook and baker, she was well known for her bars, which she baked and shared generously with friends and at various church and social events. Pearl was active in her church, the Busy Stitchers Home Extension Club and was a member of the Audubon Society. She enjoyed pursuing outdoor activities; road hunting, berry picking, hiking, gathering firewood or mushroom hunting with her husband. Her favorite place to spend leisure time was at the cottage at Golden Lake. Silvio and Pearl and their family and friends enjoyed many wonderful times there. Pearl is survived by her daughter Gaye (Jim) Wenger of Menominee, MI, her son Thomas (Leslie) of Mill Creek, WA, six grandchildren: Mike (Tricia Marcusen) Wenger, Jill Wenger (Chris Nerat), Tom Wenger, Travis Polich, Taylor Polich and Taryn (Brian) Whiteaker. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Thor and Jaelyn Fluke, Tyler Marcusen, and Elle Whiteaker, one brother George Carne, a sister-in-law, Kathryn Polich, a brother-in-law, George Polich and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves many cherished friends. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband Silvio, her parents, her sisters; Violet (Russell) Hartley and Marie (Jack Heppen) (Ed Andreski) and one brother, Richard. The family thanks the staff of the Iron County Medical Care Facility and Dr. Han for the kind and thoughtful care they have given Pearl.Pearl was a kind and loving lady and we were blessed to have her as our Mom, grandma, G.G.Ma, mother- in-law, aunt and friend. Her unconditional love and acceptance for all, her ability to see the bright side and the good in everyone was her gift to the world. She will always live in our hearts Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Cecelia Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the: Lee LeBlanc Memorial Gallery c/o Iron County Museum, P.O.
