Phillip R. Butler, age 67, of Iron River, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 in Crystal Falls, Michigan. He was born September 21, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Henry and Phyllis (Mills) Butler. He attended the Iron River High School, graduating in 1969. He then attended State Technical Institute in Kalamazoo for baking. Phillip married Jane Doenitz on August 25, 1973 at the First Lutheran Church. The couple celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary this year. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River. He worked as a local baker in a grocery store for many years, and also at the Lac Vieux Desert Casino for 15 years, as a custodian. He enjoyed working in his flower bed, decorating the yard, baking wedding and birthday cakes, fishing, camping, making artificial floral arrangements, and especially loved music. Phillip is survived by his wife Jane of Iron River, MI; sisters, Ruth Ann (Wayne) Raymond of Iron River, MI and Beth (Terry) Strom of Iron River, MI. Visitation will be held Friday, October 14, 2016 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
