Rachel Riverside

Rachel Riverside, 90, of Iron River, MI, went home to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at UP Health System in Marquette, MI.

She was born on April 21, 1936, in Iron River, MI, the daughter of the late Charles and Pearl (LaVigne) Dennis.

Rachel married Walter A. Riverside on September 21, 1954, and together they raised three children. They celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in 2011. Walter preceded her in death on February 19, 2012.

She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.

Rachel is survived by her brother, Clifford Gendron; son, Curtis (Jean) Riverside of Crystal Falls, MI; grandchildren, Joshua (Carla) Modrak, Matt (Kristin Zyskowski) Modrak, Lisa Modrak, Travis Riverside, Christopher Foster, Justyna (Jake) Skolasinski, Kristyna (Tyler) Laturi, and Justin (Alli) Foster; great grandchildren, Jason, Jon, Pearl, Jaxon, Jae-Lynn, and Ruby; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Soderberg; brothers-in-law, Anton Demboski and Robert Ketchum; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ramon Riverside; daughter, Virginia Modrak; brothers, Floyd, Orville, Charles, and Leo Dennis and sisters, Gladys Kinney, Adeline Brunell, Elaine Hooser, Mildred Muriel Jean, Cleo Richard, Roselind Demboski, and Yvonne Ketchum.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A Liturgy of the Word service will follow at 12 pm with Deacon Terry Verville to officiate.
