Ramona Ross

Ramona Ross, 97, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital.

She was born on February 24, 1929, in Stambaugh, MI, the daughter of the late Frank and Stella (Kukowski) Wodzinski. She attended and graduated from the Stambaugh Schools, with the Class of 1947. While in high school, Ramona won an award from the Detroit Free Press for Sub District Champion in Declaration. She also was active in the National Thespians as well as playing the accordion for different school functions.

Ramona married Robert J. Ross on September 1, 1947, at the former Assumption Church of Iron River. Throughout the years, due to Robert’s employment, they lived in Waunakee and Sun Prairie, WI and La Salle, IL, however, after his retirement, they returned to the Iron River area. The couple celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary in the Fall of 2000, before Robert’s passing on December 13th of that same year.

She was employed by the Commercial Bank of Stambaugh in the Insurance Department, and later, at Jean’s Dress Shop, as a seamstress. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, St. Agnes Altar Society, and the Rosary Sodality, and former member of Blessed Sacrament Church of Stambaugh. She enjoyed socializing, playing cards, crocheting, golfing and collecting unique craft items.

Ramona is survived by her sons, Robert Ross and Daniel Ross, both of Iron River, MI, David Ross of Oregon, WI; daughter, Jean Ann (John) Guzowski of Menasha, WI; four grandchildren, Daniel Ross Jr. of Marinette, WI, Marie Ross (Nicholas Pond) of Marquette, MI, Mark Ross of Missouri, and Brian Ross; one great-grandson, Derek “DJ” Ross-Wons of Norway, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by brothers, Roman and Robert Wodzinski; sister, Genevieve Wodzinski; and daughter-in-law, Diane Scheeler-Ross.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.

Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, with Rev. Daniel Fosu to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. 

Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
