Raymond ""Mono"" F. Zini of Caspian, MI died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at his home. Born: October 26, 1917 in Caspian, MI The son of the late Louis and Louisa (Peruzzi) Zini attended the Stambaugh schools. He then served in the CCC's at Camp Gibbs and from 1957 to 1980 he worked as a carpenter on the Rockefeller estate in North Tarrytown, NY. After his retirement in 1980 he returned to Caspian to make his home. He spent seven winters ministering the gospel of Jesus Christ in the Mexican prisons along the Rio Grande River in five Mexican cities. Ray married the former Rhonda Van Lanen on July 17, 1998 at the First Assembly of God Church of Iron River. He attended the Bethel Church of Long Lake, WI and was active in tract ministry. He also wrote for the local paper and wrote two poetry books. He was preceded in death by his brother Leno Zini and sisters, Zara Aldegarie, Rita Lind and Lea DeMilio. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Brother, Dan (Vicki) Zini of Iron Mountain, MI Numerous nieces and nephews A memorial service will be held Friday, November 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Assembly of God Church, Iron River, with Pastor Sandy Ritchie, Pastor Robert Archiquette and Pastor Jim Pellizzer to officiate. Interment: Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
