Richard L. Frighetto

Richard L. Frighetto, age 76, of Iron River, MI, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 25, 2020. He was born on December 8, 1943 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Louis “Bimbo” and Gentile (Donnini) Frighetto. Richard attended the Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the Class of 1961.  He attended Loyola University in Chicago, IL.   He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. Richard married the former Janet Schwartz on August 27, 1988 in Long Grove, IL.  The couple celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary in 2019. He was employed as the Caspian City Manager prior to retiring.  He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, MI, the American Legion Reino Post #21, the Iron River Country Club, the Duke of Abruzzi, and the Caspian Progressive Men.  Richard enjoyed playing bocce ball, golfing, and boating.  He was known as the “Mayor of Chicagoan Lake” and a Green Bay Packer fan. Richard is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Chad Frighetto of Los Angeles, CA; daughter, Kristina (Bob) Fabis of Plainfield, IL; stepson, Jeff (Jeni) Cook of Plain City, OH; stepdaughter, Robin (Ed) Roberts of Galloway, OH; six grandchildren, Joey, Shae, Kate, Alysse, Kelsey, and Zach; sisters, Denice (Dennis) Steffen of Niles, IL and Sue (Ken) MacDonald of Mt. Pleasant, MI; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and his faithful dog, Daisy.     He was also preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Frighetto and sister, Carol Stewart.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 10:30am to 12:30pm at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.  Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, MI with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.  The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites after the service.
