Robert E. Andree

Robert E. Andree, age 85, of Iron River, MI, passed away Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls, MI. He was born October 29, 1929 in Iron River, MI, son of the late Elmer and Mildred (Gendle) Andree. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating from Iron River High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Nevada desert during testing of the A bomb. Robert married the former Mary “Elaine” Miller on February 19, 1955 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Stambaugh, and the couple resided in Kenosha, WI. They returned to the Iron River area in November of 1957. He was a gas station manager for over 29 years. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2005. Robert was a member of the American Legion Alfred Branchini Post #17 of Iron River. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, Sunday afternoon drives, going on picnics with his family and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine on February 24, 2006, brothers Douglas and Buddy Andree, and sister, Mildred Meehean. He is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Ralph) Dabeck of Iron River, and Mary (Ken) White of Rochester, MN; sisters, Winnie Dellies, Marguerite Bernhardt, and Kathleen Andree, all of Iron River; three grandchildren, Cari, Kevin, and Chris White; nieces nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated in honor of Robert at 12:30 p.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River with Rev. Gregory Veneklase officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
