Robert P. Basting

Robert P. Basting, 86, of Iron River, Born to Eternal Life on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, Michigan. He was born May 25, 1931 in Wauwatosa, WI, the son of the late Jacob and Emily (Arndt) Basting. He attended and graduated from the Wauwatosa schools. He served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Korea. Robert married Joan (nee Schmah) on May 11, 1957 in Wauwatosa. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Robert was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Iron River and the Teamsters Local 200. He was employed as a truck driver for 35 years.   He is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, Stephen (Marie) Basting and Keith (Susan) Basting; daughter, Karen (Paul) Kingsbury; four grandchildren and extended relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter and Alvin, and sisters, Esther, Florence, Margaret, Irene and Shirley. Visitation will be held in Iron River at The Jacobs Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Michael Laakko to officiate.                                   An additional visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Chapel at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI with funeral services to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Donald P. Weiss to officiate. Interment will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the First Lutheran Church at 235 E.
