Robert K. Harris

Robert K. Harris, 90, Appleton, WI, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton, WI. He was born November 21, 1922 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Trewartha) Harris, Sr. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1942. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, serving in the European African Theater aboard a minesweeper. Robert was employed by M.A. Hanna and worked at the Bengal, Cannon, Homer and Groveland Mines, prior to retiring in 1966. He also served on the Village of Mineral Hills as a volunteer fire fighter. Robert married the former Rose Gagne on Dec 8, 1948 in Iron River and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary in 1985. Rose preceded him in death on May 7, 1986. On October 1, 1988, Robert married the former Joyce Fugate-Greenlund at the Iron River Bible Church. They celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary in 2004. Joyce preceded him in death on February 28, 2005. Robert was a member of the Iron River Bible Church and the Alfred Branchini American Legion Post #17. He is survived by son Randall (Dolly) Harris of Yuma, AZ; daughter, Molly Harris of Appleton, WI, daughter in law Ellen Harris of Appleton, WI ; three grandchildren Randy Harris, Jr of Duckhill, MS, Rhonda (Matt) Rae of Crystal Falls, MI and Jodi (Eugene) Heikkila of Iron River, MI and 10 great grandchildren., He was also preceded in death by his son Robert Harris and brothers William Harris and Keith Harris. Bob touched many lives and was loved by all. He will be greatly missed. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Iron River Bible Church with Rev.
