Robert “Bob” J. Holmberg, 77, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
He was born on April 18, 1949, in Gladstone, MI, the son of the late Herbert and Evelyn (Anderson) Holmberg. He attended the Gladstone Schools, graduating with the class of 1967. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Bob married Lynn Fleury on January 18, 1969, in Gladstone, MI. The couple celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this year.
He was employed as a Sargeant with the Michigan State Police. Bob was a member of the Cornerstone Bible Church of Iron River and the MI State Police Troopers Association. He enjoyed playing cards and coaching and refereeing hockey for many years. Bob also loved to go hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, work in his shop and spend time with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lynn Holmberg of Iron River; daughters, Cindy (Duane) Fredrickson of Iron River and Sheri Lynn (Gerald) Nicholson of Little River, SC; sisters, Patty (Richard) Smith of Cornell, MI and Janet (Dennis) Artley of Alpena, MI; grandchildren, Caleb and Eli Anderson, Kaitlyn, Andrew and Emily Fredrickson, and Jacob, Julia, and Jonah Holmberg; great-granddaughter, Suzie Q. Lindahl; many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his son, Brian Holmberg; brother, Richard Holmberg; and an infant sister, Carol Ann.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the Jacobs Funeral Home Inc. of Iron River. A funeral service will follow at noon with Pastor Rocky Farley to officiate.
Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
