Robert A. Lantz, 85, of Caspian, MI, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette, MI.

Robert was born on December 20, 1940, in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Alton and Elna Margaret (Cederna) Lantz. He was a lifelong resident of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Robert attended the Gaastra and Stambaugh Schools, graduating with the Class of 1959. He proudly served with the United States Army during Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge, he was employed by the Cleveland Cliffs Mines - Republic, Empire, and Tilden in Ishpeming, until his retirement in 1996.

Robert was a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Caspian, V.F.W. Ottawa Post #3134, American Legion Reino Post #21, and the Antique Car Club. He greatly enjoyed collecting, restoring and showing antique cars including his late mother’s 1967 convertible Jeepster Commando in which he won many awards and trophies. He loved the outdoors, gardening, and rabbit hunting with his Walker hound, Duke. In his earlier years, Bob enjoyed softball, bowling and riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his sister, Susan Heikkila of Green Bay, WI; brother-in-law, Edwin Rousseau of Reno, NV; nieces, Sandra (Micheal) Baldwin of Wausau, WI and Lisa (William) Shew of Appleton, WI; nephew, Greg (Angelica) Rousseau of Reno, NV; and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Rousseau; nephew, Robert Heikkila, and brother-in-law William Groop.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans for the exceptional, loving care provided over the past fifteen months.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Cecila Catholic Church with Fr. Daniel Fosu to officiate. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites after the service.

Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River in the spring.
