Robert O. Peterson

Robert O. Peterson, age 83, Iron River, MI died Friday April 18, 2008 at his home. Born: July 30, 1924 in Republic, MI The son of the late Robert and Lillian (Vierela) Peterson grew up in Republic. He attended the Republic schools and graduated in 1941. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp serving during WWII. He married the former Marcia H. Isaacson in Chicago, IL. In 1946 Robert was employed by the Michigan State Police. He served the Posts in Ypsilanti, Gladstone, South Haven and retired as Lieutenant from the Iron River Post in 1976. After his retirement he was employed as personnel Manager for American Motors from 1976 until 1986. Robert was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. He liked all sports but was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. He liked his e-mails and police scanner and renovating at his camp and his home. He enjoyed all electronic gadgets. Robert was a certified water witcher. He was a member of the Cornerstone Lodge 158 Free and Accepted Masons of Michigan, and former member of the American Legion, Republic Post. He is survived by his wife Marcia Son, Drew (Janice) Peterson of Indianapolis, IN Daughter, Michele (Jerry) Knepp of Fairview, MI Brother, Eugene (Evelyn) Peterson of FL 6 Grandchildren; Scott (Tami) Peterson, Sarah (Nick) Peterson-Arkanoff, Chad Knepp, Twins Tyler and Corey Knepp, and Travis (Michelle) Knepp. Great grandson, Gavin Step great granddaughter, Cassidy Visitation: Wednesday, April 23, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. The Masonic service will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. The Michigan Law enforcement will attend the visitation in body at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service; Thursday April 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River with the Rev. Gary Markworth to officiate. The West Side Veterans Council will accord Military Rites. Interment; Republic Cemetery, Republic, MI. A Memorial will be established in his name.
