Robert E. Panero

Robert E. Panero, age 65, Iron River, MI, died Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Marquette General Hospital, Marquette, MI. Born: December 15, 1942 in Bayshore, New York The son of the late Emile and Margaret (Brown) Panero. Robert graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering. He married the former Sharon Briney in 1983 in Northwest, IN and the couple moved to Boyne City, MI in 1984. Robert worked as an industrial engineer for many years until moving to Iron River, MI in the 1990's. The couple purchased the Trav-Lures Motel and Gallery and operated the business until Sharon's health failed in 2006. Sharon preceded him in death on July 12, 2006. He was a member of the Tourism Council of Iron County, UTRA (UP Travel and Recreation Association), the Iron County Chamber of Commerce Association and the Masonic Lodge. He was also preceded in death by an infant grandson, Alexander in 2003 and sister, Lynn Crawley. He is survived by two daughters; Lisa (William) Leep of Lowell, IN Lora (Angel) Mercado of Schererville, IN Granddaughters, Samantha and Kaitlyn Graveside services will be held at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN.
