Robert R. Porier

Robert “Bob” R. Porier, 89, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain, MI.

He was born on March 1, 1937, in Marquette, MI, the son of the late Ralph and Lillian (Wernholm) Porier. He attended the Iron River Schools, graduating with the Class of 1955. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy as a plane captain, stationed in the U.S. and Italy.

Bob married Judy McLean on June 26, 1993, in Iron River, MI. They celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary this year.

He was employed as a custodian for Ice Lake Medical Clinic. Bob enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, duck hunting, gardening, woodworking, and just being outdoors.

Bob is survived by his wife Judy; sons, Jeffrey (Judy) Porier of Iron Mountain and Michael (Faye) Porier of Iron River; sister, Lorraine Johannes of California; sister-in-law, Nancy Porier of Iron River; grandchildren, Jeremy (Rachel) Porier, Christopher (Mindy) Porier, Jennifer (Scott) Cartwright, Anne (Joseph) Donohue, Kristina (Jed) Smith, and Andrew Porier; nine great-grandchildren with one on the way; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Porier; brother-in-law, Ted Johannes; and grandson, Bobby Porier.

A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Cemetery in the Fall. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
