Robert D. Roberts

Robert “Bob” D. Roberts, age 85, of Long Lake, WI, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls, Michigan. He was born May 30, 1932, in Long Lake, Wisconsin, the son of the late Price and Doris (Sawyer) Roberts. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954.  Robert married Patricia Sheldon on January 15, 1955 in Crandon, Wisconsin. The couple celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this year. He was a member of St. Norbert’s Catholic Church of Long Lake and the Long Lake Fire Dept. for over 20 years. He was an outdoorsman at heart and enjoyed all things in nature, including: fishing, hunting, working in his garden, being in the woods, and sitting on the deck watching the birds and deer. Robert is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Rob (Samantha) Roberts of Iron River, MI and Dave (Denise) Roberts of Gaastra, MI; daughters, Teresa (Patrick) Karle of Iron River, MI, Linda (Mike) Pierce of Florence, WI and Peggy (David Champion) Roberts of Kingsford, MI; grandchildren, Scott, Laura, Cliff, Casey (Brad), Cody, Ava, Emma, Libby and Andrea (Ken); great grandchildren, Tyler, Kaleb, Kelsi, Zach, Peyton, Kamren and Zach; great, great grandchild, Hayden; brothers, Marlin (Sally) Roberts of Rockford, IL, Bill (Dixie) Roberts of Long Lake, WI and Rick Roberts of Long Lake, WI; sister, Joy Novak of Long Lake, WI; sister-in-law, Lurleen Roberts of Long Lake, WI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Jim and Larry Roberts. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church in Long Lake, WI. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father John Cerkas to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. The West Side Veterans will accord military rites at the graveside.
