Robert E. Stachowicz

Robert E. Stachowicz, age 84, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born on March 10, 1937, in Caspian, MI, the son of the late Jacob and Katherine (Ball) Stachowicz. Robert attended and graduated from Alpha High School with the class of 1955. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Robert married Gail Kinney on January 2, 1960, at the First Lutheran Church in Iron River. The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this year. Throughout the years, he was worked in ceramic tile in Milwaukee, WI, for Mario Branz in Iron Mountain, MI, and as the Service Manager at Lindwall Motors in Iron River and Freeman Buick in Iron Mountain, MI. He also worked for Caspian Construction Company and the Iron River Care Center before retiring in 1999. Robert was a member of The American Legion Reino Post 21. He liked hunting with his sons and grandsons. Robert enjoyed four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and fishing in Canada. He also enjoyed being at hunting camp that he and his son built. Robert loved Western music and playing the guitar. You could always find Bob in his garage fixing something. He went to several GM Schools and diesel school at Michigan Tech. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. Robert is survived by his wife, Gail of Iron River; sons, Jeff (Toni) Stachowicz of Caspian, MI and Steve (Marcie) Stachowicz of Texas; grandchildren, Natasha, Tyler, Kiefer, Dillon, Cody, and Megs; great grandchildren, Rayne, Quinn, and Ali B.; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Carole Stachowicz, Marie Koscielski, and Dolores Yoki; brothers, Ben (Viola), Ed (Josie), Joe (Dorothy), Jack (June), Donald (Lena), and Frank Stachowicz. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Iron River. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Fish to officiate. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites after the visitation.
