Robert W. Harris, age 59 of Neenah, WI went home to the Lord on Monday, March 9, 2009. Born: July 25, 1949 in Iron River, MI The son of Robert K. and Rosalie (Gagne) Harris and attended the Iron River schools, graduating in 1967. He joined the Air Force, serving from May 1972 to May of 1976 when he was honorably discharged. He attended the police academy at Northern Michigan University, Marquette, MI in 1980 and was employed in law enforcement, working for the Caspian Police Department and the Iron County Sheriff's Department. Robert married the former Ellen Hanmer on February 10, 1967 and in later years, the couple made their home in Neenah where he was employed as a truck driver for Tom Van Handel Corporation. The couple celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary this year. He was a member of the Calvary Chapel of Appleton and the Elks Club. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish, hunt, and ride his Harley with his wife. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and fellowship in church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalie Harris, step-mother, Joyce Harris, and father-in-law, Jack C. Dobson. He is survived by his wife Ellen Daughter, Jodi (Eugene) Heikkila of Iron River Father, Robert K. Harris of Iron River Brother, Randy (Dolly) Harris of Arizona Sister, Molly Harris of Darboy, WI Step-brothers; Larry (Carol) Fugate of Iron River Norman Fugate of Iron River Step-sisters; Sharon (Marvin) Rometti of Iron River Cheryl (Alan) Peterson of Green Bay, WI Mother-in-law, Marion Dobson of Iron River Brothers-in-law; Michael (Sue) Hanmer of Iron River Arnold (Marsha) Dobson of Texas Sister-in-law, Jackie (Don) Bowmaster Gaastra, MI Two grandchildren, Shira and Devan Heikkila Memorial services will be held Friday, March 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Iron River Bible Church, Iron River, with Pastor Dan Waters to officiate. The West Side Veterans will accord military rites at the memorial service. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
