Roberta Ivey Schewe

Roberta R. Ivey Schewe, 95, of Iron River, MI, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Iron River Care Center. She was born April 15, 1918 in Iron River, MI, daughter of the late Medora and Velema (Branchini) Dati, and was a lifelong resident of the area. She attended the Homer and Iron River Schools. Roberta married Alfred Ivey in 1936 in Iron River. Alfred preceded her in death in 1968. She married Dr. George Schewe in 1972. George preceded her in death on June 28, 1994. She was employed as a secretary for the former Jerry DeMotts Photography Studio and then at Angeli Foods before becoming a dental assistant for Dr. Schewe. Roberta was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River and St. Agnes Choir. She served on the City Council Senior Citizens Committee, worked as a volunteer at the Senior Citizen Center, and loved spending her free time at there with her many friends. She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry Ivey; grandson, Mark Ivey; one great, great grandchild; brother, Vedio Dati; sisters, Genena Anderson, Asfalda Kososki, and Eva Scalcucci. Roberta is survived by her daughter, Gail (Philip) Passamoni of Iron River; daughter-in-law, Judy Ivey of Iron River; brothers, Alfred Dati of Missouri and Donald Dati of Milwaukee, WI; seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and six great, great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 9:30 t0 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will be follow at 11 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
