Rocky Hudson

“Rocky” Walter Hudson, 78, of Iron River, MI passed away August 19, 2020 at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. He was born to Lloyd and Ernestine (Oliver) Hudson on January 12, 1942 in Battle Creek, MI. His family moved to Green Bay, WI and he became an avid Packer fan. He was a graduate of West High in Green Bay with the Class of 1961. He signed for the draft and joined the Air Force. He was in Vietnam in 1964 and 1965. He returned to Green Bay and worked at Fort Howard Paper Co. until 1980 when he met Sylvia at the Chamber of Commerce when he went to get maps and info for fishing. Rocky and Sylvia married on September 11, 1982. They operated the Rendezvous Bar/Dome Lounge for 10 years. He got a degree in Computer Aided Design. They moved to Appleton before retiring back to the U.P. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia of 40 years; sons, Brett (Terri) Hudson of Seattle, WA and Bart Hudson of California; daughters, Kandi Evans of Green Bay, WI, Nora Norman of Oshkosh, WI, Barb Herren of Myrtle Beach, SC, Julie Baumgartner and Adrienne Ranta, both of Iron River, MI; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; one sister, Jackie Kunchynski of Green Bay, WI and a favorite nephew, Robbie Hudson of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob and Dick; one son, William Cattani; and two sons-in-law, David Baumgartner and Terry Herren. Rocky never lost his sense of humor. When he was asked what he wanted after death, burial or cremation? “Cremation” he said, “so I can have a smoking hot body one more time.” The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at 12pm at Resthaven Cemetery on Saturday, September 19, 2020. A Celebration of Life will follow from 1:00 to 4:00pm at the American Legion Reino Post#21.
