Roger D. Graves

Roger D. Graves, 62, of Tipler, WI, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L 'Anse, MI. Roger was born on September 24, 1950 in Wakefield, MI, the son of the late Joseph M. and Georgiana (Dutton) Graves. He attended Florence High School. Roger married the former Shirley Gill on January 27, 1973 in Bates Township and the couple made their home in Tipler. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. Roger was employed as a logger by Hilberg Logging Inc. He enjoyed being in the woods and had worked as a logger since the age of 13. He also enjoyed softball, hunting, motorcycle riding, and western movies. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Keith (Michelle) Graves of Crystal Falls, MI, and Ronald Graves of Copperas Cove, TX; brothers, Joseph Graves of Green Bay, WI, and Larry (Renee) Graves of Gaastra, MI; sister, Cora Graves of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Justine Graves, Ashley Buell, Brenden Graves, and Kaden Graves. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 17, 2013 from10:15 to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home.
