Rolland "Rollie" Silvio Rometti, age 84, of Stambaugh, MI, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Northstar Health System, Iron River. He was born July 29, 1929 in Mineral Hills, MI, the son of the late Pio and Catherine (Antonetti) Rometti. He attended the Iron River schools, graduating with the class of 1948. After graduating from high school, Rollie worked at Angeli’s Grocery Store and Nolingburg Bakery. In 1960 he began his career as a Social Worker for the State of Michigan, retiring in 1988. Rollie married the former Mildred “Millie” Biondi on August 26, 1950 in Caspian, MI, and the couple were lifelong residents of the area. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in 2013. Rollie is survived by his wife, Millie; daughters, Sandy (Bill) Lasich of Manistique, MI, and Julie Llewellyn of Houston, TX, and son, Mark (Lauri) Rometti of Eau Claire, WI; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Herman, Silvio, and Ernest Rometti, sisters, Ellen Treloar, Jenny Sartorelli, Emalinda Gasperini, Esther Rodda, and Rose Dishaw, son-in-law, Robert “Dusty” Llewellyn, and granddaughter, Demi Evelyn Llewellyn. Visitation will be held Monday, June 9, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, with Rev. Gregory Veneklase to officiate. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
