Ronald George Lindstrom, age 87, passed away unexpectedly on January 17, 2020. Ronald was born July 6, 1932 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Astrid Thunander. He attended the Stambaugh schools, graduating with the class of 1950. Ron married the former Louise "Susie" Monnot on May 2, 1953 in Fort Leonardwood, MO. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in 2019. She preceded him in death July 5, 2019. Ron was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Korea from 1953 to 1955. He was a member of the Iron River VFW Ottawa Post #3134 and the American Legion Reino Post #21. He was also a member of the First Lutheran Church in Iron River. He made his home in Kenosha, WI where he worked as a carpenter until his retirement, then moving back to the Iron River area. Ron enjoyed woodworking, playing baseball, basketball and bowling. He also loved to travel and going camping. He is survived by his children, Ronald (Candice) Lindstrom of Lakeview, OH, Rick (Shelly) Lindstrom of Columbia, S.C., Debbie (Ed) Couture of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Kevin Lindstrom of Madison Heights, VA, and Cheryl (John) Bobnock of Iron River, MI; eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; grandson, Ryan Couture; and brother, Larry Thunander. Private family services will be held. Interment will be at the Bates Township cemetery in the spring. The West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites at the graveside.
