Ronald J. Maloney, age 83, of Iron River, MI, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born October 8, 1932 in Mass City, MI, the son of the late Clarence and Mildred (Chynoweth) Maloney. He attended and graduated from Mass City High School, and then Michigan Technological University, Houghton, MI, for his Civil Engineering Degree. Ronald was employed as a Civil Engineer by the Michigan Department of Transportation for 30 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Iron River. He was an avid hunter and big lake fisherman and spent many hours at his beloved “Goose Camp.” He especially loved his family. Ronald is survived by his long-time companion of 28 years, Candy Armstrong; his children’s mother, Kay Maloney of Iron River; sons, Jim (Debra) Maloney of Waukesha, WI, Mike (Paula) Maloney of Ontonagon, MI, Pete (Denise) Maloney of Iron River, and Mark (Jenine) Maloney of Gladstone, MI; daughters, Carol (Don) Bastianello of Iron River, and Peggy (Alan Amborn) Podolak of Superior, MT; brother John (Gayle) Maloney of Greenland, MI; step-brother, Frank (Cathi) Uotila of Ontonagon, MI; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family. Private family services will be held. The family suggests memorial donations to the Iron County Cancer Unit. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River.
