Ronald W. Peterson, age 80, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021 at the Aspirus Iron River Hospital. He was born on March 21, 1941 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late Arnold and Edia (Yoki) Peterson. He attended the Stambaugh Schools and graduated. Ronald married Therese Dobrzenski on October 26, 1963 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River, MI. The couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in 2008. Therese preceded him in death on January 16, 2009. He was employed as a miner and shovel operator at the Empire Mine. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Iron River. He enjoyed hunting, working on his tractor, spending time at camp, cooking and sharing his recipes, and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ronald is survived by his son, John Peterson of Caspian, MI; daughters, Shelley Peterson of Iron River, MI and Lorie (Blaine) Strom of Gaastra, MI; granddaughters, Nicole (Christopher) Warrens, Gina (Cody) Elwood, and Megan Strom; great grandchildren, Owen, Noah, and Olivia; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Peterson. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 9:00am to 10:30am at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. Funeral services will follow at 11am at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Gregory Veneklase and Rev. Francis G. Dobrzenski (brother-in-law) to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. At the request of the family and the funeral home, masks are required and please respect social distancing. Interment will be in Stambaugh Cemetery.
