Ronald A. Piwarski, age 60 of Iron River, MI, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, WI. Born: May 13, 1948 in Stambaugh, MI The son of Arthur and Virginia (Wojner) Piwarski attended the Iron River schools, graduating from Iron River High School in 1966. He also attended Michigan State University to study agriculture. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. He married the former Kathy Kay on June 20, 1986 in Green Bay, WI and the couple made their home in Iron River. They celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary in 2008. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church of Caspian, the American Legion and the VFW. An avid outdoorsman, he was a self-employed logger and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working and gardening, especially growing raspberries. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife Kathy Mother, Virginia Piwarski Son, Jason Piwarski Daughter, Melissa Piwarski Brothers; Ken Piwarski Delwyn (Dee) Piwarski Larry Piwarski Leonard (Suzie) Piwarski Steve (Martha) Piwarski Sisters; Barbara (Wally) Elmer Marilyn (Dave) Van Dewettering Donna (Les) Stapleton Kristine Zemple (fiance Dennis Ryan) Visitation: Friday, February 6, 2009 from 9:00 - 10:40 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Friday, February 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Caspian with Rev. Michael Woempner to offer the Mass of Christian Burial. Pallbearers: Brothers Ken, Delwyn, Larry, Leonard, Steve Piwarski, and nephews Jacob Piwarski and Scott Stapleton. Interment: Resthaven Cemetery, Iron River The West Side Veterans Council will accord military rites at the graveside service in the spring. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Iron County Cancer Unit or Hope Lodge in Marshfield, WI. Funeral arrangements by the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River.
