Ronald L. Zeller

Ronald L. Zeller, age 78, of Iron River, MI, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. He was born on May 12, 1945, in Robinson, IL, the son of the late Robert and Ethel (Fleener) Zeller. Ron attended St. Nicholas Catholic School and graduated from East Aurora High School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. Ron married Mary Anne O’Connor on June 17, 1967, in Aurora, IL. The couple celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this year. He was employed as an ironworker with Ironworkers Local 444. Ron was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church of Iron River, the VFW Ottawa Post #3134, The American Legion Reino Post #21, the Westside Veterans Council, the Iron River Veterans Memorial Association, and the Classic Farm Machinery Club of Iron County. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and Ironworkers Local 444. He enjoyed working on his farm and traveling to meet his rodeo family and friends. Ron is survived by wife, Mary Anne; sons, Mike (Amy) Zeller of Wakefield, MI and Steve (Kris) Zeller of Parker, CO; daughter, Sara (Josh) Nodurft of Sneads Ferry, NC; sister, Karen (John) Ratcliff of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Maddi Zeller, Marena (Brady) Griffin, Silus Zeller, and Dylan, Brynlee, and Kaelyn Nodurft; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Zachary Zeller and sister, Carol Lewis. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron River. The West Side Veterans will hold a pass and review at noon. A graveside service will follow at Resthaven Cemetery where the West Side Veterans will accord Military Rites. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Iron River Veterans Memorial Association in Ron’s memory.
