Rose R. Cozzuol

Rose ""Rosie"" Cozzuol, age 92 of Iron River, MI, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Northstar Health System, Iron River in the presence of her family. Rose was born November 17, 1916 in Stambaugh, MI. She was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Albina (Filippi) Scopici and was a lifelong resident of the area. She attended the Bates and Iron River schools, graduating from Iron River High School. Rose married Jack ""Giacomo"" Cozzuol in June, 1939, at St. Agnes Catholic Church. The couple purchased the old Ice Lake school house that same year and converted it to their home, where she lived for the past 70 years. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1989. Jack preceded her in death in 1994. She was also preceded in death by her sister Freda Beaudoin. She is survived by two sons, John (Janet) Cozzuol of Appleton, WI, and James Cozzuol of Iron River/ Idaho Falls, ID; one daughter, Rosanne Cozzuol of Wausau, WI; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Rose was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Agnes Altar Society, and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a great cook; her recipes will be passed on by her family who often participated in her all day cooking events that finished with a feast at her table. She was also an accomplished seamstress and 4H Leader. Passionate about playing cards, she passed her time with various card clubs. Her favorite was Hand and Foot, and until the end she almost always won when playing with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed after dinner walks and always wanted to take the road less traveled. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. All who knew her agree that their lives were made better by knowing Rose. There are no words to express how much she was loved and will be sorely missed. Our family would like to express our appreciation to all the nursing staff at the Northstar Health System for their exceptional care during her last days. We thank you. The family suggest donations for a memorial that has been established for Rose's favorite charities. Visitation: Friday, May 15, 2009 from 9:00 to 10:30 at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron River. Funeral Service: Friday, May 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Iron River, with Rev. Norman Clisch, pastor, to offer the Mass of Christian Burial.
